Dangerous Goods

Overview

DHL Express Commerce (DEC) supports sending DHL Express Dangerous Goods types from one DEC
account.

Important

  • For most Dangerous Goods, you must be shipping on a Dangerous Goods approved account. If you would like to start shipping Dangerous Goods or have further questions, please reach out to your local Sales representative.
  • If you attempt to use a specific Content ID and receive an error, it means that either your account is not approved or the lane is closed for this specific type of Dangerous Goods.
  • DHL Express Commerce currently supports one dangerous goods type per order, if you are
sending multiple dangerous goods in one shipment you will need to split the order.

Setting an order to contain Dangerous Goods can be done via rules that include a Content ID specifying the type of Dangerous Goods.

The types of Dangerous Goods and their respective Content IDs are listed in the table below:

Assign DHL Express Dangerous Goods to an Order via Rules

To assign Dangerous Goods via the rules, follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to Settings > Rules.
  2. Create a new rule and select the condition that must be met e.g. "Item SKU" equals 12345.
  3. Select the action "Set Dangerous Goods Type."
  4. Enter the 'Content ID' of the Dangerous Goods type you are using (the Content ID can be found in the table above).
  5. Click Save.
  6. Repeat steps 1-5 for each Dangerous Goods type you would like to assign.

Upon import, if the value added matches a Content ID (from the table above), any order meeting the conditions of the rule will be assigned the specified Content ID. The Dangerous Goods option will then be checked in the UI and reflected in the shipping breakdown within the order. If the value does not match any Content ID, no changes will be made to the orders that meet the conditions of the rule.
