Overview
- Packing slips help you identify which items are to be packed on a per order basis. You can include information such SKU, item description, quantity, colour, and size on your packing slips.
- It is recommended to bulk print packing slips alongside a packing summary. Use the packing summary to pick your orders, packing slips for packing and printing labels.
- You can use the default packing slip or customise your own packing slip.
How it works
Packing slips accompany shipments sent from your online store. They are typically printed in an A4 format, and have a description of your order including a list of SKUs, item descriptions, and quantities.
To configure your Packing Slips, go to Settings, then select Packing Slip.
Example scenario
Once the orders have been imported into DHL Express Commerce, the Warehouse Manager bulk prints the packing slips. A dispatcher takes a packing slip and collects the items listed. They scan the barcode on the packing slip to find and print the relevant label in DHL Express Commerce.
Set up packing slip printing behaviour
There are three options to configure for packing slip printing behaviour. They include:
Print packing slips with each label: When enabled DHL Express Commerce will print a packing slip out at the time you print a label for an order.
Display order item barcode: Adds item barcodes (if available, otherwise a barcode is created using the item SKU) to packing slips which can be used with a pick and pack device to scan barcodes on products, and match them with the barcodes on the packing slips.
Use Our Ref as order number barcode: Uses Our Ref (Order Number) as order number barcode at the bottom of packing slips.
Use a default packing slip
The default packing slip can be printed in two ways:
- A4 format
- 100x150mm format. Set this format to automatically print with each label. To enable this option, select PDF 100 x 150 from the Format dropdown under Use our default packing slip. This format cannot be customised.
Customise your packing slip
You can configure your own custom packing slip using the following fields:
FIELD | DESCRIPTION |
Page Title | 'Packing Slip' is entered by default. |
Custom Logo | Your brand logo will appear in the top left corner of the packing slip. If you can't see the logo go to Settings > Packing Slip and make sure Customise your own is set and your logo has been uploaded. |
Display Custom Text | Custom text will appear in the top right corner of the packing slip. |
Delivery Instructions | Delivery instructions are displayed on the label to provide clear instructions to the driver e.g. 'Please leave the parcel at the front door'. |
Items Grid | Items can have multiple variances associated with them e.g. size, colour, and location. |
Footer Content | Add a footer for a thank you note or instructions about returns. |
