Overview
Deutsche Post’s integration in DHL Express Commerce allows you to use all of the system features including generation of packing slips and shipping labels, auto-correction of addresses and many more.
Note:
Deutsche Post rates are not available in DHL Express Commerce, so they are not displayed on the New Order page.
If you would like to display Deutsche Post rates at checkout, you can set up table rates where you can add your agreed rates.
Before you begin
You will need your:
- Account Number (EKP)
If you are missing your EKP number, please contact your Deutsche Post account manager to request it.
Deutsche Post also needs to provide additional permissions for your EKP to be able to use DHL Express Commerce, so please ask your account manager to ensure that your EKP is ready to use on DHL Express Commerce too.

3. Adjust your Air Waybill settings
Shipment preparation is a two-step process.
- Labels are created for the items which will travel through the international mail network.
- The items are then consolidated for their journey through the DHL Express network to the Deutsche Post Mail Terminal and a DHL Globalmail Waybill (AWB) is created for this shipment.
Once the consolidated shipment reaches the Deutsche Post Mail Terminal, the mail items are processed and sorted for forwarding via the international mail network to the destination country.
In the Advanced tab of the DHL Express Globalmail settings, you can adjust your AWB cropping option, as appropriate.
- If you are happy with the AWB provided back in an A4 format, you can just leave it with the AWB Label Cropping set to None.
- If you would like to receive the AWB in a label sized format, change the AWB Label Cropping to Yellow AWB.
4. Using Rules to assign a specific service
To automatically assign a Deutsche Post product code to your orders, it is necessary to add a business rule to carry out an action when certain conditions are met e.g. If destination country = ES then set the product code to Packet Plus
- Select Settings > Rules
- Select Add a new rule
- Choose a Condition e.g. Destination Country Code.
- Enter the text that that the condition should meet e.g. ‘ES’
- Select the Action to Set Courier & Product Code
- Choose Deutsche Post as the courier and choose the desired product code
- Click on Save
Take a look at our Rules Overview article to understand how using rules can help to streamline your shipping process.
