Verify printed orders before dispatch

Check the items in a printed shipment before handing it to the courier. In UI 2.0, Packing Validation records this check without printing another shipping label.

Before you begin

  • Start with an order in Printed. Shipped, archived and manifested orders are excluded.
  • Make sure items have a barcode or SKU for scanning. You can also check them manually and adjust packed quantities or use Mark as Packed.

Check the quantities on the printed shipment. Items on a separate backorder belong to that separate order. To check items before printing a label, use Scan to validate items.

If Block already validated orders is enabled in the account holding the order, a completed validation cannot be started again. The option is off by default. See Configure Packing Validation.

Verify a printed order

  1. Open Workflows and select Packing Validation.
  2. Select Include printed orders. This workflow option is off by default; there is no separate printed-verification switch to enable in Settings.
  3. Enter or scan the order number, then press Enter or select Search. Typing does not show suggestions while printed orders are included.
  4. Open the matching Printed result. Check the Account if several results appear.
  5. Scan each item's barcode or SKU until all displayed items and labelled quantities have been checked. Each matching scan increases the packed quantity. For an item without a scannable label, use Mark an item as packed with an action barcode after checking all remaining units on that line.
  6. Select Complete Packing. With Auto-complete Packing Validation enabled, this happens after the last required item is checked.

Completion records the check and returns you to Workflows. The order keeps its existing label and shipment details.

Check the result

Open the order's History and find the Packing Validation entry showing the items and quantities checked. Items completed with act_markaspacked also record the item IDs and quantities validated by skip after completion. Continue with your usual manifest and dispatch process.

Troubleshooting

The printed order is not found

Check that Include printed orders is selected, the order meets the requirements above, and you are searching in the account that owns it. For child-account orders, use the search option described below or switch to the owning account.

Verification cannot be completed

Check that every labelled quantity has been packed and that the order still meets the status requirements above. An error stays on the page with Open order details available so you can review the order. If the check saved successfully, completion remains disabled on that page.

The order is already validated

Select Open order details to review the existing order. With Block already validated orders enabled in its owning account, completed orders cannot enter validation again from Workflows or order details. The setting does not prevent ordinary access to order details.

FAQs

Can I verify a child-account order from the parent account?

Yes, when Include orders from child accounts is available and you have access to all linked child accounts in the search. Select it alongside Include printed orders, then use the Account column to choose the right order.

DHL Express Commerce opens the order in its owning account and returns to the parent account after completion or Back. If child-account search is unavailable, switch to the owning account if you have access.

Will my completion settings print another label?

No. For printed orders, Complete Packing records verification even if your setting is Print the label or automatic completion is enabled. You can manage these options in Settings > Packing Validation.
