Once you have connected your eCommerce platform to DHL Express Commerce (DEC), we recommend importing and processing a test order before you start shipping your live orders.
This will help you confirm that your integration, shipping details and order updates are working as expected.
1. Review your integration settings
- Before importing your first order, check the settings for your connected eCommerce platform.
Go to: Settings > Integrations
Select your integration and review the available settings. - Depending on the platform, these may include:
- Which orders are imported
- When orders are imported
- Order status and fulfilment updates
- Shipping information
- Product information
- Customer notifications
- These settings determine how information is exchanged between your store and DEC, so we recommend reviewing them before processing live orders.
2. Import your first order
- Once your integration is configured, import an order.
- Go to Orders > New and check that your order has been imported successfully.
- Open the order and review the information, including:
- Receiver name and delivery address
- Products and quantities
- Weight and dimensions
- Package information
- DHL Express service
- Customs information, where required
- If something doesn't look right, review your integration or DHL Express Commerce settings before processing further orders.
3. Create and print your shipment
- Once you are happy with the order details, create the shipment and print your DHL Express shipping label.
- Before attaching the label to your shipment, check that the shipment and receiver details are correct.
- For international shipments, make sure that any required customs information has been provided and that the necessary shipping documents have been generated.
4. Check the update back to your store
- After creating the shipment, return to your connected eCommerce platform and check that the expected information has been updated.
- Depending on your platform and integration settings, this may include:
- Order or fulfilment status
- DHL Express tracking number
- Tracking information
- This confirms that information is flowing correctly between your store and DEC.
You're ready to ship
- You've now successfully imported an order, created your first shipment and printed your DHL Express shipping label.
- If you also confirmed the expected updates back to your eCommerce platform, your basic integration workflow is ready to use.
